Fernando Calderón

"Development and Democracy in Bolivia"

A visiting professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, Dr. Calderón is a leading Bolivian sociologist and consultant in human develoment to the United Nations. 

Sandy Tolan

"Environmental Issues along the US-Mexican Border"

Monday, November 6, 12-1

A visiting fellow in the Graduate School of Journalism, Sandy. Tolan, an independent documentary filmmaker, has done extensive reporting along the border for National Public Radio, the New York Times Magazine, and many other publications. He has also covered Central and South America, the Dominican Republic, India, the Balkans and the Middle East. His independent production company, Homelands Productions, is at work on "Border Stories," a documentary series for public radio.

Gerardo Munck

"Latin American Politics: Recent Trends and Future Challenges"

Thursday, November 30, 12-1

A visiting professor in the Department of Political Science and in Latin American Studies, Dr. Munck has published extensively on democratization in the Southern Cone.
